The foundation stone of Siang Bridge near Pasighat was laid by Late Rajiv Gandhi in September 1987. It’s a border road project under Project Udayak of BRO.This 703.50 meter river bridge is still under construction by Gammon India Limited. It was supposed to be completed in 1991. It is now expected to be completed by 2010.
The project cost will now be about Rs. 400 crore. The project encountering the flood-wave which is above the actual designed level. The bridge configuration consists of seven spans with construction of 6 Piers and 2 Abutments. The sinking of Pier wells of Piers P2, P3, P4 & P5 of this bridge posed a lot of problems due to presence of bouldery sub-soil strata which consist boulders filled with sand matrix in a dense compact state; this has resulted in delay in completion of this bridge.
Till the Bridge gets completed, this is the only way.....
Bridge on Lohit River at Parsuramkund, Lohit Dist, Arunachal Pradesh
410 M long RCC Bridge on Lohit River near Parsuramkund – It took 17 years to complete the bridge.
The construction work of 410 M long Lohit Bridge started on 1989 by M/s Banka India Ltd and the completion period was three years as per the contract agreement. The Bridge completed on 2006 only. The Project was under Vartak (now under Udayak).
A dispute between private contractors and the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) coupled with inclement weather and lack of roads to ferry building materials are the reasons of delay in the completion of the bridge.
Bridge on Noa Dihing River, Lohit Dist, Arunachal Pradesh
637 M long, RCC, Noa Dihing - I Bridge – Longest Bridge in Arunachal Pradesh constructed by BRO under Project Udayak.
